Meet us

In April 2019, I went on the Earth March to London from Stroud before the two week occupation of London by Extinction Rebellion. On the Thames tow-path, I decided to open a shop where we could talk about all this. I opened the Beacon in August. Before that, I was a carpenter, a Waldorf teacher, counsellor, antique restorer and mud student. I grew up on a mixed arable livestock farm in the North of England. The countryside is my go-to place for rest and regeneration. I love to meet new people and write poetry and songs. I believe we can achieve a society that is free, equal and mutual with good land-use the key to capture carbon.

I have been an activist for the last five years with Politics Kitchen here in Stroud, after a busy business career and bringing up my four children. I have been a member of Extinction Rebellion since it began, and I have never felt more passionately committed to trying to change the inevitable bleakness headed our way, unless we change the way we all live dramatically. I love being a part of The Beacon team mainly because of the awesome people who come through the door. I am a realistic optimist who has great faith in humanity’s intrinsic good.
